K&N Filters

Seeing as how my air filter is now thick in crap, I've decided to send off for a K&N rather than get an original jobby. Anything I should know??? I've got a cat eliminator pipe but apart from that it's standard.

Unless you just like the fact that a K&N is re-useable, you may not find much benefit in airflow without resorting to the lennies induct (or taking the induct off completely - copywrite Bailey) as most of the restriction is in the pipework b4 the airfilter.
The Lennies is a very good mod (imho) but quite expensive and not always available off the shelf.
I did both together last winter so can't comment on the K&N alone.

I do the K&N on its own, i have a bulk standard bike. Only mod has been to take out the air box drain screws, as i can't be arsed to drain then, so they do it themselves after any run. There i go again off topic....
The K&N is fine, no difference, just means you can clean it and can leave the services a little longer (for the air fil0ter).
When can the Highway agency lay softer road coverings??

I found on my T595 that it was restricting the bike for something like a few hundred miles until the excess filter oil had been sucked-out and then it seemed to perform a little better

The drain screws are on the clean side of the filter so why bother with an air filter at all?

P.S. I was reading about Bailey taking off the induction pipe and running with an open filter. TBH I thought he was taking the piss! Does he REALLY do that then? And the big question - what difference does that make?

I've been running my bike for a while now with the front part of the Induct pipe off, but that's just 'cos I like the sucky noise coming from between my legs when I wind it up ..ooh er! Can't say I've noticed any difference in performance tho'.

The reason the induction pipe sticks out the front is so that it sucks in the coolest air available, which engines like. Take off any part of it and the air will be warmer and less dense, thus reducing power. Or something like that :?

Ummm... yeah, have you seen the size of the holes??? you think that they compete with the very big hole of the filter??? when you rev the engine the net effect is hardly any suction... take out the screws and put your finger over the holes and try it.. sod all pull... so no i don't think that it plays a big part at all...

So...I'm in the pub with a mate I've known for years. turns out he knows a guy who works at K&N in Warrington. He can get me an air Filter for my S for £15....What a nice man - it will be here Monday! :mrgreen:

If your going the K+N route then to make any great difference you need the Induct,cheap it ain't but it does work and very well at that.

Just had call, my K&N will be here this afternoon.

I've been looking for links to the Lennies induct pipe but can't find any. Anyone point me in the right direction??
