Radial Shaft Oil Seal

Postby Delpel » Sun Apr 16, 2006 4:12 pm

Does anybody know of an alternative to the radial shaft oil seal. The one that sits in the front cover behind the hall effect pickups.

It looks like a bog standard oil seal but as luck would have it the BMW dealer here in Cyprus doesn't have one in stock.

Regards

Just try your local bearing shop quoting the number off the seal which should relate to od id and width.

Should be less than half the price of BMW

And while you're at it, ask for R23 version (single lip & wiper).
These usually last longer than the more usual standard R21 which only has a single lip.

Cool cheers chaps.

I have found one sized at 30-42-8 which is 1mm thicker than that fitted. The stock item is 30-42-7

At £1.40 I couldn't resist and will give it a try.

Again thanks for the advice.
