Don’t waste too much time polishing standard pipes.

I done mine and as soon as you start up you can watch the pipes turn brown (unless you want to polish them after every ride) plus I don’t think Ron’s are standard

The RT : stock pipe stuff, and indeed, they are shiny and tan (but..., every now and then I polish them with steel wool, in combination with stuff that's called 'StarGlanz' <-- see Google)

...shiny and tan...

The good old S : HPE pipes, made out of thin stainless steel, and they are..., mostly shiny and tan (but again..., every now and then I polish them with steel wool, in combination with StarGlanz.

Off topic............how did you manage to get your exhaust down pipes so blingtastic? I'm considering doing mine to the same OCD level as yours.
Thanks.

With you on the headlight protector - I think mines Skidmarx although they don't list one for the 12S, the headlight is the same as a (I think) K1200GT (?)
When I bought mine I did tell Skidmarx that the 2 headlights were the same and they thanked for the information (but didn't give me a freebie!!)

Ron, I polished mine with fine steel wool, Peek and also used a soft copper polishing brush in a drill - they came up like chrome and literally turned brown before my eyes when I started the bike up!! I've got some BOS headers (bought from this here parish) and hopefully they'll be fitted next year before a Hilltop re map

1) You can compare this StarGlanz stuff, with Peek. StarGlanz (German made) is only somewhat less expensive. This week I just received 3 new (...better save than sorry... ) tubes of StarGlanz for some 18 Euro. And..., a tube of Peek contains 100 ml, and StarGlanz 150.

So..., more black fingers, for less money...

You can also polish all 'the-brake-banjo-bolt-stuff' with it (and all the other bolts & nuts)

2) yes..., I know..., but on the other hand, they turn shiny brown now...

3) I had mine remapped a few times, and it's surprising what a few clicks on a keyboard can do to the engine's performance :D

Been there with the banjo bolts etc. - little copper wire brushes in a Dremmel - kind of satisfying in a sad sort of way when they come up looking like chrome
