What is the general opinion on this ... when we went to Jedburgh for the ride out in 2012 I had new Pirelli Angels on the R1100S .... and they are still there, not yet worn out, still got some miles in them. Is there a point in time when they have to be replaced regardless of not being worn down - just cos they're old like the pilot ???

There is a general rule that tyres should be replaced after 6 years from manufacture. Apparently something to do with the chemical compound. Date of manufacture is on the sidewall, four numbers normally preceded by DOT first two numbers are the week and second two are year e.g DOT1513 is 15th week of 2013.

I would get out and enjoy wearing them down over the summer before they get past the use by date.
Then you don't mind (or question) changing them :)

I use these, great value for money. Had the previous version and had Supermax sports. No complaints.
