Hi All, New to the forum having just acquired a 2003 r1100s. I'm looking to replace the brake lines and would like to know if there is any difference in length of the brake lines between a 2003 BCR and my r1100s.
Cheers

Brake lines installed and now having problems bleeding, we have a 2003 R1100s with a servo ABS system, we are getting fluid to the ABS unit but not down to the callipers. After calling BMW they have advised that this can only be done using the diagnostic tool which I have also discovered this in my manual.
has anyone got round this problem without taking it to BMW???
Cheers

Hel performance will make them to order if you give them the lengths you want, most people go for two lines and ditch the cross piece over the mudgaurd. The BCR`s are taller than a std 1100s but the s sport and BCR are the same I think, somebody will correct me if I`m wrong.

P.S Welcome to the forum.

You will need to take the brake lines off and send it to HEL. There are a few different lengths of brake lines and they will ask you this.

When I got my comfort bars above the top yoke I used a piece of string to measure the length needed and then had HEL make up two lines for me with the appropriate banjo connectors so that I had a single feed to each caliper.

Don't forget that if you go for two separate lines down from the master cylinder, one to each caliper, you will also need to get a twin banjo bolt and extra copper washers to replace the standard single feed one.

To confuse the issue, I have a Boxer Cup Replika and a friend has exactly the same bike and year.

On his he was able to mount the bars above the yokes with enough brake line to allow it, on mine the lines were too short.

Keith, if you find you need a couple of small P clips for the fork legs let me know, I have access to various sizes and stainless screws.

I had a good game fitting braided lines to my 2001 S. I got Goodridge hoses through Motorworks. Had a problem with the left front hose, it was too long, and it took Motorworks/Goodridge five attempts to send me a replacement that was the correct length.
This was despite me emailing photo's, drawings, etc detailing the length I needed.
Sending your old hoses to HEL sounds a good scheme.

If anybody wants four slightly-longer-than-should-be left hand front Goodridge hoses.......

This my next job on my to do list 2001 r1100ss, only my bike has the ABS2 system I have bled many none ABS brakes before but haven't been able to find a clear YouTube how to video on how to do this although I've read how to. I've seen the Goodridge kit for my bike on Ebay for around £150 just wondering if any have tried this kit and if there as been any problem using it.

I have fitted lines front and rear to my 2003 BCR bike. Got mine from Venhill - sent my originals and they send me a set for free in return for using mine as a template for future orders. Lots of adjustments, easy to fit and bleed once I had realised the rear brake switch was duff and causing an ABS problem. Give them a call - great guys producing a quality product.

I fitted Goodridge hoses to my BCR and they were excellent. I chose to keep the standard system and they supplied all of the fittings. It went on easily and worked well. You can buy them from eBay - cost me £111.00
