does the 1100s Sport use a standard centre stand?

Got a technical query? Found another 0.02bhp? Ask/tell the world.

does the 1100s Sport use a standard centre stand?

Postby tomodan » Fri Sep 21, 2012 8:26 pm

As title says, I am looking for a centre stand for my 1100s Sport & am offering a detachable one as a swap in the for sale section (shameless plug! 8))

Just had a horrible thought that as it is the sport model a standard centre stand wont fit. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Cheers

Tom

From the pics i can see no belly pan but i seem to remember the sport is higher than a normal R1100S

Mine sits taller than a standard bike and on the flat if i put it on the centre stand it would roll off down the road or just fall over, however when i do work on the bike it's usually out side my house on the road with the camber of the road the back wheel is about 2" off the ground perfect for doing most things and it's easy to get on and off the stand

I have just measured mine the stand is 10" from the floor to the centre of the mounting bolt bike on centre stand you will have to measure your's to see if the stand will work or not

I have high back end on my 1100S by virtue of a gs torque arm and max ride height on the rear shock. When I first got the aftermarket stand like yours, it didn't lift the back wheel off the floor, and even now with the stand adjusted, I have to put the stand on a piece of 15mm mdf. You might find the same with a standard centre stand on your bike.

It would appear from the parts fiche that BMW never offered a centre stand for sports suspension or Boxer Cup models, there is only one stand listed and it specifically says "Not for Sports Models".
