More power

Please tell us a bit more about the bike - is it standard? What doesn't he like about the low-rpm performance? Is it fuelling badly, or just lacking oomph etc?
These motors have a fair bit of torque low-down, certainly more than a lot of IL4's although it's never going to be the sort of engine to rip one's arms off.
The relatively simple stuff would be to lose the cat (if fitted) and replace with a Laser or Remus mid-section. Perhaps then fit a K1200RS fuel regulator. Also, I've round making absolutely sure the throttle bodies are balanced perfectly will help low-down performance too.
He could of course fit a Power Commander but it starts to get expensive, especially with dyno time. Probably worth it though as a PCIII-equipped bike I rode a few years back fuelled beautifully at low revs.

See this thread for some advice

but it would help if you describe the symptoms or what he actually wants to achieve.

Hi Grommit, You mention the K1200RS fuel regulator as a way of improving 11S performance. Can I ask, what's it do? Where's it fit? Do you know the motorworks part number?
.
Mr. Spock is my role model so be advised; I possess no (discernible) sense of humour.
It's all VFR (DCT) round here now. STILL missing my 1100s tho.

Assuming that there's nothing amiss with the bike you could try these

Edit , didn't see the "without replacing mechanical bits"

Nick - the K's fuel pressure reg just fits the fuel line under the tank, replacing the 11S's original one (I did one years ago and my memory's a tad foggy sorry!).
What does it do? Lets more fuel into the engine - useful if you're running aftermarket pipe/induct etc where you could get a lean condition.
It's a bit crude vs a PCIII or some such but it does make a bit of a difference. Someone who's done the job more recently will I hope be along to explain more eloquently than me.

First thing to do, get it serviced inc air filtre, balance the throttle bodies and check the valve clearances, then take it from there, additional horse power is responsible for very empty pockets, but things can be done to help it breath and `spin up` quicker before it gets too serious..

Huh, I dunno. That lower-case 'b' on the end is a worry .Check this page out. T here's two illustrations with the same part number (FUA65150 )but for dif models but one sez 3.5 bar and that it fits most models
