What TYPE of oil do you use in your S ?

10/40 semi in my BCR - it's what the guy that services mine uses. The last dealer service, they used fully synthetic which I didn't think it needed

20/50 mineral in my 1200S cos that's what the previous owner used

I always use Opie. Perhaps they have been able to source more mineral since I last ordered, but last service I swapped to castrol semi-synth as I was advised by Opie that the semi was the replacement for the recommended product, which was being made obsolete.

I could not tell any difference in the way the engine runs.

Engine seems quieter , cranks over better when cold, and an unexpected side effect , more MPG...
Current disadvantage , uses oil now.

Almost half of you still use mineral oil which is interesting ~ could it be we are all more experienced and know our engines don't notice the newer concoctions? Maybe.

I have today bought 5 litres of Repsol Super Elite 20W50 mineral oil which I will give a go as it's available here in Salobrena. If you hear I've buggered the thing up you can always say "I told you so"

This is something I've noticed too. Not had my 1100s for long but have been using semi- syn since I've owned it covered around 6,000 miles and have had to top the oil just a bit. viewing the sight glass in the engine,bike on level ground. Is this normal?

As I understand it boxers using a bit of oil between services is perfectly normal. They can burn a little and vent a bit through the air box. I think the 1100 loses more than the 1200 based purely on anecdotal evidence.

Mine used 200-300ml is 2000 miles,which is bigger all, when I switched to semi.

i checked mine every time i started it on a new day ,,, only took a second , but its peace of mind , used a wee bit of oil , about a tablespoon a week ,, not accurate , but there you go

for me on my 2000 11s I used 20/50 mineral from h/davison it was a low miles bike.

When i bought it, the first time oil change I used full synth the bike felt like it didnt like it, so went back to mineral
