Pivot pin torque settings

Postby Gruffalo » Sun May 25, 2014 4:15 pm

Hi all looks like I have play in the final drive at 12/6 and 3/9, but have noticed that there seams to be no lock tight on the left hand adjustment side, and the inner pin is finger tight,
Looking on internet I have got people quoting from 7 to 25 foot lb and 70 to 115 foot lb for the retaining nut any idea what they should be ?
And should there be any play ?
Have had a quote for 170 from the main stealer to replace the bearings
But tHought I would torque them up and see the difference

From the manual , 7Nm on the adjustable one and 160Nm on the locknut and the offside bolt.
Shouldn't be any play in theory but read here .....

According to Clymer, swing arm to final drive unit (paralever models) it would appear the right pivot pin is160Nm, the left adjuster pin for all models is 7Nm and the left adjust pin locknut is 160Nm

I accept no responsibility for the accuracy - I don't really like the Clymer manual as it covers too many models and you need to jump around a bit to find what you're looking for!!

Re take on my last statement

Postby Gruffalo » Sun May 25, 2014 7:12 pm

Well all I can say is i re took the pin out ( it was a dry a my bank balance )
Greece refitted and tightened until no play between 12 and 6 and 3 and 9
And to get it to that stage it's about 16 nm on my 18 year old bar,
Well I'll see how it rides tomorrow and probably book it in to the main stealer
