Hit the 40k mark. . .

Postby xspencex » Sun Jul 29, 2012 11:53 am

Hi Guys,

I've just gone beyond the 40,000 miles point on my R12S and (fingers crossed) it's has been brilliant so far with only a failed battery and O2 sensor issue. Not bad.

However I can't look past the fact that for a bike that's a fair amount of miles. So I'm looking at what may need done to ensure it does another 40k without issues.

I have had the usual services and have a big service booked for next month however I was wondering if there was anything else I need to have checked to ensure it remains in good condition. Bearings, engine, gearbox etc. . .

Also I need to find a good Ohlins service agent in Scotland, anybody from Scotland know a good specialist up here and also any ideas on an approximate cost for a refurb?

Advice gratefully received!

Cheers
Al

ERS at Knockhill? http://www.ersracing.co.uk/suspension/4557698374

At 40k I'd be tempted to inspect the final drive unit, changing bearings and seals?

Annual full oil change ( hydraulics too) and new (good quality) filter.

Thanks of the advice.

Final drive has always been a worry and I'll be having fluids changed at my next service.

Cheers
