Another source for HES:

Cata Dan in Romania supplies all sorts of goodies for Oilheads, and makes these things http://boxer-upgrades.webs.com/apps/webstore/products/show/1855593

I have not needed one but trust his workmanship, after buying 2 x of his throttle repair kits for my 1100S.
R1100S current
K1200RS (2005-07) Autobahn-stormer
V-Strom (2004-05)
VFR800 (2003-04)
-in the 70s & 80s there were lots more...

I know you said he's too far away but the Roy mentioned is Roy Gardner. He's in Croston, between Preston and Southport. He's good and his prices are reasonable.

A satisfied customer.

Let me know, I can always shove the laptop in the panniers and connect it up to see if it reports anything. It may help :)
