And did you know the Russians still hold the record for producing the most powerful turbo-prop engine ever built and the biggest load-lift capability for a helicopter as well, Russians are blooming good at design, just vastly under financed :)

amazine beasts, 8 engines to lift it out of the water, and then only the need for two to keep it going at silly speeds just above the water :D got the Americans scared when they first saw the spy satellite pictures ("what the eff is that!" I think was the term first used :lol: )

Ill take your point about the Kuznetsov NK-12MV and the Mil MI 26................But what happened with the Cossack?? :shock:

That is very impressive. I am a qualified seaplane pilot and it is very difficult to judge your height above the water when it is smooth and glassy like that. Of course, if there are waves and you catch one, you are suddenly in a 450hp radial engined submarine....

Ah, the Harvard. You can get the propeller tips to go supersonic in a dive and they make a loud rasping noise you can hear in the next county. Bit like my S on the overrun 8)
