Just look at the pictures  Plenty of cameras

To be fair, most of them are on the major routes and in or near towns. None in the Alps or Gorges... yet.

I was trying to download the latest GPS file showing the postion of all the cameras to compare to last years but the format has changed so I can't. If I figure it out I'll let you know if there has been an increase.

We're looking at SW Germany this year so should avoid all of this. Any advice for Germany greatfully received.

The nearest one to us is on the outskirts of Perigueux, 23 miles away. It is well signposted and cannot be missed. It also faces forward so it cannot read bike plates, but best of all is that it was vandalised and painted over last July, they have not bothered to fix it yet, this leads me to believe that they are not just revenue earners as the ones in the UK are.
If the French don't think that its worth collecting road tax as it no longer exists here, why install cameras for any other reason than to slow the traffic down?
