What real speed ???

I went through a speed trap today, brain fade .... My fault .

Its a 120kph zone, I was doing 80 mph, slightly over 120 kph.

If any one has any idea of the rough over read percentage on the standard R1100S, with the smaller wheel , and standard tyres,
I'll sleep a bit better , hopefully not throwing money away and collecting 4 points !!

Here in Espana , there is no leeway, the limit is 120, go one kph over, and you have broken the law.

The fines vary according to how much over, but the points don't.

Get a GPS app on your phone, find somewhere the 80mph is legal and do a test

80mph on my speedo is equal to 125kph on my GPS

The relationship between speedo reading and true speed changes slightly depending on whether the rear tyre is new or worn.

I hope your rear tyre is really worn, good luck!

80mph on your speedo is probably around 75-76mph on a satnav (true speed)

Go back out with a satnav or phone with suitable app - and do an indicated 60mph.

Read the Satnav steady speed in km/hr and multiply that by 4/3.

I reckon you will be around 121-122 km/hr.

Thanks Al , hopefully the guys who calibrate the camera traps here in Spain are lenient !!!

You're not the only one - waiting to see what drops through the letterbox within the next 11 days or so....................

Not me, of course - my bins have been out more than me! :crybaby:

( I hadn't realised that Spain had such strict tolerances on the speed excursion - you've provided a useful reminder for all. I'll have forgotten all about it before I get back down to the Pyrenees, though)

I think that avenue has closed now, with the change in data-sharing.

I got a fine direct from French after last year's French jaunt. To be fair - it was only around €45 and easily verified and paid online.

Nothing compares to the IOM who were brutal in fine allocation

You just need to flash them your WRI membership card, Dave - for a free pass. :)
