Top speed R11S
Just curious if anyone has had the opportunity to max out their R11S, and if so what speed did you achieve?

Back in the early days of the trixters a few of us used to go to Elvington and put the bikes down the runway during the Straightliners weekends. My first 1100s (with vandelinde exhaust + chip, Lennies Induct and SJ filter) was clocked at a genuine 145 through the speed trap, Hitting the rev limiter and indicating around 160 on the speedo. This bike was a very good example as it almost always ran over 140 at these events when the other 1100s would run a genuine 130 + 135mph.

Would the lower powered examples have hit a higher speed if allowed more distance, or was that it, absolute?
In the case of your bike, would a higher speed have been attainable if the gearing was higher and more distance allowed?
Motocod, 1100 definitely has a rev limiter, just rag it in first or second gear and you will find it.

Hi,
Always possible that some of the other bikes may have gained more speed with a longer run. Thing is we all had the same distance to get up to speed so I think it is fair to say that it was a very good example of an 1100s. It ran an 11-2 standing 1/4 mile with a terminal speed of 122mph and people would not believe that it was standard apart from the exhaust and induction mods. Used to enjoy folks saying "But its a BMW!!!"
Happy Days
