Nice , but agree about it being a bit too bland looking in that pic. Could be anything with the appropriate badges.

All very well - shouting for individuality, but BMW are in the business of selling bikes - not pandering to those who want a new R1200ST.

Sounds like they feel the need to give the customer something to dissuade them from buying a Multistrada or a KTM Adv. It could also hit sales of the new VFR800..........

So - they give it a stonking engine (albeit - not a twin), do the usual BMW thing with luggage - Job's a Maserati! :D

See if that works .....

Awful! Really really awful.

There is little that sets it apart from the competition. You have to look at the badge to see who makes it.

BMW have been very successful making esoteric, bikes like the GS, F800 series HP2s and have broken new ground.

No doubt their research has told them that this will sell, but it's not for me.

Playing devils advocate here ;)

But there's also people who don't like the quirkier BMW styling etc, and after drawing them in with this they could then be eased into the weirdy ones ;) ... maybe

BMW are not stupid. They have obviously done their research and this is obviously what sells. It's just not for me. It might have a bit more power, cutting edge electronics etc, but for me it could well be a UJM.

Quirky has served them well enough for the past couple of decades.

I think it's the start of a downward spiral. Now they sell what everyone else sells they stand ready to be trumped.

S1000F will sell in this guise as the competition have proved the market is there however I doubt the uniqueness of the whole range will follow suit. BMW bikes to me have always seemed to be about doing the job properly ie what the experience for the rider is in real world situations rather than what the numbers say and so they educate people to what is actually best for them but by following others they may lose the lead.

Bread and butter bike....it will be very good, well spec`ed and priced competitively, but if it had a Suzuki badge on it non of us would have looked twice at it?

No matter, one for the number crunchers at BMW, the success of bikes like these mean funds available to build bikes we may asspire to, every Panigale owner should say thankyou to the Monster afterall..

I can't help thinking that the wonky headlights make it look like one of those mutant creations from Toy Story...
