This is a short video from 1997 250 class. I cannot conceive of going that fast on these roads - then going even faster 'cause someone's just passed me (that's why I'm not a racer then). Enjoy...

I don't think they are opening up the throttle to re-pass (the throttle is pretty much pinned for the whole lap). I think that it is a very good demonstration of slipsteaming, you notice how they zoom past and then just sit in front and then the guy who has just been overtaken zooms past again and they then play leapfrog down the whole straight.
There would appear to be a surfeit of prolixity and sesquipedalian content today please do not use a big word when a singularly un-loquacious and diminutive linguistic expression will satisfactorily accomplish the contemporary necessity
I thought at first it was probably a slipstream effect, but you can see he blips the throttle as if changing up or maybe down (I should listen to the revs next time).
Maybe that is to take advantage of the slipstream?
Hmmm! Had another watch of the video and he definitely blips the throttle when the other bike passes, and our guy gets back past again, but I can't tell from the sound if he's changed gear.
Interesting though. How do you take advantage of slipstream? I would have expected to see our guy tuck in behind for a little way, but he just seems to sail back past, like he had something in reserve. I do remember a racer (F1 or MotoGP?) say that you can feel when someone is slipstreaming you; it's like you're being pulled back.
