Warning to Scotshire :)

Postby slparry » Wed Aug 21, 2013 9:31 pm

The Welsh are coming ;)

Well on Friday that is, I'm off on the annual Highlands tour, this year from Wales to Glasgow on the Friday as usual. Then up to Brora via a tortuous route on Saturday. Sunday will see us up to John O'Groats before riding along the top west via Durness towards Lochinver, and down to Ullapool. Monday it's back down to Glasgow via another tortuous route sort of SW ish. The Monday back to Wales from Glasgow.

So far the weather's looking ok-ish, which will be great as I don't think I've seen the highlands without horizontal rain :)

Just come back from a (short) trip into scotland and there's nobody on the roads to tell to get off.

Yes, it rained.

Next year, as it's my 40th bike anniversary we're thinking of several different runs, this one is the current favourite after finding the steam racket would do the IoM leg for 100 quid and the Larne one was £40

http://goo.gl/maps/LsOgQ

there's some more tweaking to the route to get rid of as much motorway as poss etc but it's a rough guide

This is what makes it so awesome, the empty roads that is not the rain :)

Yes, you may see a few "unique" individuals around Aviemore wearing arse-less leather chaps, although you should be able to start smelling the new leather vests from around Glasgow.

Que music from "The Blue Oyster bar" in the Police Acadamy film......
