Wheels ....

Postby slparry » Thu Jul 26, 2012 7:45 pm

anyone here know of anyone offering wheel straightening to alloys in north Wales or the north west?

My K12GT's rear wheel has succumbed to our wonderfully maintained roads and appears to have a slight wobble now :(

If you are happy to post your wheel then I would recommend Dave East in Enderby, Leicestershire. He does a lot of wheels for the top race teams and sorted my Ducati wheels for me a couple of years back.

cheers for that.

Plan now is to look for a used K1200S or R wheel as they're a straight fit and are a 6.00x17 where the GT is a 5.50x17.

Once I have that I will be able to send my old wheel for repair and keep as a spare :)

.... I'm also going to try the council to see if I can make a claim against them as the potholes in question were reported to them 6 months ago on Fixmystreet and they're still not repaired them, so they'd had advance notice of the problem and that the holes where "invisible" as they were under water that collects at the spot.

RealOem shows the wheel as being $949.82 so I guess around 600 quid?

The new type wheels must be made out of cheese 'cos despite dropping into a moon crater at speed on the ride out at Moffat my BCR's wheels are buckle free :)

My mate uses these people to do his high quality work; occasional rebuilds and sales. He is VERY fussy!

I used these guys years ago when I dinged the front wheel on my first 1100R. Sadly, not local to Steve though, but still highly recommended.

Dealing with councils, The three card trick, Inside information, corrupt and procurement. Easy

You will usually find that they are absolved of liability of they have 'inspected' the road within the last 12 months.

And they usually have.

If that's the case it night well be worth sending in a 'FOI' (freedom of information) request to see a copy of the paperwork relating to the inspection records...
2011 Harley-Davidson FLD Switchback - yeah, I know. I've always wanted one though...

Thing is there are documented fault reports on fixmystreet showing that they've been aware of the fault but have done nothing
