Got to say picking up a 12S is far too tempting but I'm holding onto the 11S for a bit longer. I hope the situation is the same if I do fancy a change!

There was an R1M at Snetterton the other day. What an insane machine :shock:

Greetings Trixters.
Been a while since I posted but I saw this thread.

I've just traded the 1200S in for an RS.

TBH I did fancy a change. I put about 17,000 on the S. Took it to Norway, LeMans, but coming back from Scotland this year (making 'good progress' as they say) and the old shoulders really started aching. And I fancied a bit more protection.
Tried a GS - nah! and an Adventure which splayed my wrists to the extend I ended the test ride.

Really loving the RS. Amiable salesman said 'this is the bike you've been waiting for'; and I thought right! nice sales pitch. But actually he was right.
The 1200S was a step on from the 1100S, the RS is a big step forward again.
Great ride, gizzmos or no gizzmos. I've got hard luggage back, and Mrs H may even get her leathers on again. Result.

So 'you're' part of the reason my bike has lost value. :(

bit harsh! (possibly fair).

On the other hand, the 1200S is now 8 years old. So if its got a decent residual value its probably cos you havent done enough miles on it! :P

And lets face it, the BMW bike demographic these days is average age 45. (dealer comment not mine). They're nearly all 'boys toys'. So if it was all about the money you wouldnt buy one to start with.

Just kidding Harry. Depreciation is life unfortunately (unless one owns a BCR or HP2) pipe down at the back Greg 😉

Oh, and you are correct about usage. I bought it with 6k and the 2200 miles I put on it in France last week took it to 19ish I think. Regrettably I just don't get the time.

Very nice, although talking to one of our customers (who works for a Yamaha dealer) there have been problems with some M's - notably bikes' engines blowing vast quantities of oil into their airboxes. They've sold 3 of them, and all have come back with the exact same issue.

Still, didn't buy 'em as investments, they are cracking road bikes :D

Over at CW yesterday for a service on the K13 and some tinkering to the S1000RR (beginning to think I'll just get my salary paid direct into they're account from now on, cuts out the middle man) and they have had really slow sales on the RS?

Best get the R12's over there quick :wink:

Sounds like they are caning them (as they are meant to) , as this is the exact problem they were suffering at the IOM TT.
