ESA

Well the continuing saga of my K12GT ... um continues.

As was noted here the rear ESA was duff, BMW agreed to replace it on the extended warranty, at a cost of £2000 I'm pleased at that! :)

However, I've spent the previous 2 weekends sitting bored in the dealership while they fitted it on the first weekend and found it wouldn't "talk" to the bikes ZFE, getting to it entailed a complete rear stripdown

Which meant a 2nd weekend of them trying to reflash the ZFE to no avail.

This morning they came to collect it to have it there in the week as apparently once it's hooked up to their system BMW DE can interrogate it to find out what it's problem is.

I told them what the problem was, the shock was fresh in from Germany, the bike lives in Wales now so the bike now speaks Welsh and the shock German ... simples :)

Latest Update:

Just had a phone call from the dealers, turns out the new ESA they fitted was duff from the factory <grrrr> so they're having to order another one.

This will not be in until Thursday <sigh> ..... so assuming no further issues I guess there's a slim chance I "may" get it back for the weekend..... I won't hold my breath! :)

I am considering it, I'm guessing advertising it with a brand new rear ESA may make it sound more attractive :)

I think the fact that it has a renewable warranty will be more of a selling point

Well I for one am thankful it turned out this way.
Things could have been much different if there had been a different outcome during the recent hostilities!

Cheers
