Hi from Belgium

Postby jesax » Mon Apr 06, 2015 10:23 am

Hello, my name is Alain and i am from the Belgian coast...Ostend.

I am 50 years old this year and have been driving bikes for 32 years...everything from bobbers, choppers, cafe-racers to v-max...

My last bike was a suzuki gsx1400, but after having a lot of small problems and having the bike more on stands then under my butt, i decided to go BMW.

I bought an yellow and black r1100s from 2000 with 32.000km...in very nice condition except for a rattle in the engine, but i am pretty sure it will be the chain tensioner.

The work for this is planned next week...should it not be resolved with this, then i will be glad to hear any and all advice...

Welcome. Does it only rattle on start up? From the left cylinder?

hi, it rattles all the time...i i think it is coming from the left side, but it is difficult to tell...it gets not so much louder but faster as you turn on the throttle...it does it while in neutral and in gear, and also when the clutch is pulled or not...in other words, as soon as the engine is turning, it rattles.

it does not affect the performance of the bike, but i am affraid that i will make things worse riding it like this.
