Lincolnshire convert

Hallo - from Lincolnshire (near Cadwell Park).

I'm back into road bikes after a very long time. Whilst rebuilding a '63 T100SS I've become a convert to the benefits of German engineering and am looking here and elsewhere for an 1100s to be suitably modified to suit my battle-weary joints.

I've already gleaned a lot of useful buying information and will post a few queries/comments etc in order to get the right bike. I'd really like a more classic, 'naked' machine but Airheads, like English bikes, are too expensive for me just now, however the R1100s seems like a good-value compromise.

Welcome Andy - good to have another Yellowbelly on here (even if I am an adopted one). :)

Thanks.

I'll hopefully meet a few R1100s owners this way.

I have a good friend from Aurich who comes over with his wife on their R1200RT every year (though in his Passat next month - he must be getting soft) but other than him, and a couple of chaps in Willoughby/Hemingby, I don't know any BMW bike owners.

Hi Dave

Dave

Thanks - I will check that section again but when I last looked I think Bruno had sold his bike and the other was an ebay job that has now ended.

I notice you have a BCR. It is interesting that there are as many of these for sale as non-BCRs, yet there wouldn't have been many BCRs made. As the model is, I think, a ' Sport' (wider rear wheel, uprated rear suspension unit and steering damper) plus the bodywork are there some bikes out there being sold as BCRs that are actually clones?

Welcome to the group, I'm new to this forum as well. People here are friendly and knowledgeable so suspect a good place for you to find what you want and a great place to learn about the R1100S as well as the R1200S.

I believe Bruno's ex-bike is back up for sale at the same price as the purchaser (PBBoxer) is having problems with his back and wants something more upright.

Thanks Al

Your post led me back to Bruno's bike, which I only saw when PB had already bought it. But I have it now!

couple of clones have appeared but the wise (not me) here can spot them. Later BCRs had shorter torque arms and GS forks to raise them for the racers
