Is that a Turbo saddle I spy? Could not get away with one of those although I did have one on a Nigel Dean I built up when I got back into cycling in my late 20s. Graeme Obree used to use one - thats maybe why he got the hour record - he couldn't wait to get off

Yup ... It's more uncomfortable than I remember but (1) I was in my 30's when I used that saddle originally and now I'm nearly in my 60's and (2) I was hoping that was because I haven't got around to getting some proper shorts yet... I could do 7 and 8hr days on that back in the 90's!
Any suggestions for saddles ?

That's like asking whats the best tyres

I used to use a (I think) San Marco Rolls (with the brass bits) but now use an old Colnago saddle with titanium rails - I've loved them since the early nineties (also when I was in my 30s). Its on my Cougar on the turbo. My mountain bike is a Specialised and the saddle it came with is brilliant - I've always liked them

Well my engine-less two wheeler is a cheap (£100) mountain bike from the local cycle emporium with and expensive (£15) wide gel saddle.
And I'm happy to say I've managed to get up to 10 to 12 miles per day now (it being 40 years since I last did any serious cycling)
But only when it is sunny and warm - I'm not that much of an enthusiast.
And this is the only positive of lockdown I have found.

John, if it works it's good enough!! Over the years I've seen thousands on exotic Italian road bikes - Colnagos were always my dream bikes. I got a good deal on a Specialised MTB, 700 reduced to 525 then I built a carbon MTB when I had the money and it should have retailed at about 3500 and I was more comfortable and could go faster and further on the cheaper bike. Main thing is getting out which you're doing

Well said both of you, definitely a positive of lockdown for me too getting back out on me MTB and finding superb tracks and route riding straight from the house and I agree it doesn't matter what it costs as long as it does the job and you enjoy it :D

I actually thought twice about posting the photo before I changed the tape but reckoned I'd got away with it... I have some suitable hi viz tape but I'm waiting until I 've stopped fettling the bike , don't want grubby paw marks on it ...
