Six broken ribs, two fractures to the pelvis, ankle fracture, both thumbs fractured, one with detached tendon, amnesia and soft tissue injuries to both knees but apart from that i'm fine.
At least I got a ride in a helicopter, just sad I wasn't conscious enough to enjoy it.
5 weeks on and I am up and walking so mustn't grumble.
I will say that what you wear when you ride is vital. I travelled 57ft at a height of at least 12 ft according to the police report from witnesses.

Causing serious injury by careless driving by the look of it. Years ban, possible 2 years in prison and fine I think.

Wishing you a speedy and full recovery. I'm guessing the damage to the RC8 isn't just going to polish out... Presumably the car that hit you was turning right without spotting you coming the other way?

All the best,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

I was coming from right to left in the picture and he pulled out from the road facing to turn left and then right over the staggered crossroads

Jeeez! Not to diminish your injuries - which are significant. At least they are what I would term ‘bread & butter’ injuries for the surgeons!

Broken ribs are touch and go, of course - and any ‘flying through the air’ incident - is luck of the draw on result.

Sounds like you are making slow recovery - I would suggest getting good injury lawyers. A pal of mine about 10 years ago - broke his neck, narrowly escaping paralysis. Got punted off again 3 years ago and had injuries ‘slightly’ worse than yours. A witness grabbed his phone and phoned the last numbers dialled. His wife, and his best pal, who arrived within 10mins and started directing the police as to who to interview, taking photos of all the cars, and generally making sure nothing was overlooked.

Anyway - hope your are back to 100% soon.

All the best

Al

Thanks Al, the Air Ambulance was on scene within 15 mins and the police and ambulance were by all accounts fantastic, I of course didn't see any of it. I am under no illusion as to how lucky I was with the outcome. Nearly 100k on the 1200S and not a scratch, 10k on the RC8 and this is the end result. I thought bright orange would help with the SMIDSY but obviously not, he missed two orange bikes with dipped beam on! Not sure HiViz would have helped in this instance. Just been told the bike has been scrapped as the frame was snapped in half so it will be something new in the garage when I'm able.

If they pull out on big red fire appliances with two tone horns blaring and blue lights flashing then any dayglo etc is moot :D
