Hello all

Not been on for a while just purchased a new steed here against the red baron

have to say the ride is completly different fortunate to find all option model in great condition 12k on the clock

A fine brace of Beemers there....congrats!

Interested to hear about the differences in ride and handling. What would you say the top three differences are?

For me, (sold an 11 and replaced with a 12) lighter bike, lower centre of gravity, better balance, easier to steer, quicker steering (it turns on thought alone unless I'm is really throwing it around) more comfortable riding position (although I do have bar risers on) but it's still less of a stretch to the bars even when standard. The 12 has less low down grunt than the 11 but a much smoother engine and a less obstinate gearbox. Not thay my 11 was particularly bad in that respect but the 12 is definitely better.

hello all

Thanks for the comments the front cover was removed as i was touching in a few marks on the black casing and forgot to put it back on oopps all done now though.

Finally got out sunday for a quick 70mile run first proper run on the 1200 the differences are big in my eyes but should be as this was the replacement bike for the 11s.

Engine first much smoother and relentless power delivery with good manners gearbox tight and much better handling my bikes on ohlins so its always going to be good but have to say like night and day lighter more responsive and very smooth.

Brakes tip top very good have the switchable abs very positive gave great feed back on the damp roads (well within my caperbilities anyway hee hee )

quick blast up to the gods speed just for fun as very windy bike nice and planted very steady helibar risers fitted and a mra touring shield made a very good modification both easy fits and make the bike for me.

Will start and save for the mods required first the hp2headers as also are going to fit the hp2 belly pan as dont like it plain jane.

Thanks for outlining the differences. Having only ridden the 1100, which handling-wise I compare favourably to other sports bikes I've owned, it's interesting to think the 1200 could be another step up.

I took an R1200s out for a test ride, got home - and thought my R1100s was broke :?

At the time, I thought buying a 1200s would mean the BCR got left in the garage.

Not so sure now - I still love riding the BCR even with a more sporty bike in the garage.

Hello all

Can totally agree with the last comment after my ride i was convinced it would be the end of the road for the much loved 11s time for a sale :(

However much to my amazement the iatola (wife ) informed me that the red baronness was going nowhere as i would only kick myself to death if it went as the amount of love and pennies spent making her very interesting and quick ride would have been wasted.

OK fine

started her yesterday she just sat on the garage stand growling spitting very loudly (wicked) i guess she was announcing her presence to the newbee

Hellboy,

I did the same as you last April, and swore to keep my 11S - best bike i ever owned.


Six weeks later I sold it to Motocod who was looking for a 11S on this forum. I just did not ride it once I had the two sat next to each other. So, good luck with the dilemma !

Only thing I would add is that if you need to take a pillion, the 12S is the worst pillion bike ever made - so that might help.
