FS: Honda VFR800FiX '00 (W) SOLD

Postby Gromit » Thu Mar 10, 2016 4:14 pm

I've been thinking very hard about this but owing to recent events (my health, basically) it's sadly time to give up motorcycling, at least for a while. I'm hoping most sincerely that this is temporary but it does seem ridiculous to have this lovely bike sat in my garage - loved, but unused.

A fair few people will have seen my VFR in the flesh and hopefully attest to its very nice condition. It has one or 2 blemishes (it is 16 years old after all) but otherwise a very fine example of the breed.

It's done just over 20k miles and is MoT'd until the end of May - will double-check this when I've dug the paperwork out.

It includes:

Original service/handbook
Full Motad (ie the best) stainless downpipes fitted when I got the bike in June 2014
New chain & sprockets fitted 2000 miles ago (2 weeks before the Flash weekend last year)
Baglux tank cover
Seat cowl and passenger grab handles
Scottoiler (fitted but not used).
Spare - brand new - rear Pirelli Diablo Strada.

The only small glitch which doesn't affect the bike's running at all is the baro pressure sensor is showing a fault code (not to be confused with the IMAP sensor) and if the bike's stood for a while will light up the Fi lamp on the dash. Give the bike a good run out for the day and it'll settle down. Otherwise it runs beautifully.

If I can get £1650 for it I'll be happy.

Will get some more photos added when I can but a couple to show you for now:

That is absolutely lovely!.....shouldn't think you'll have any trouble at all selling it tbh. I ran an 'S' plated one as a 'stop-gap' between selling my Mille and buying my R-Sport....loved it to bits, and almost kept it, it was so good at everything. Some folk reckon they're bland....they're wrong!

Good luck with the sale.

Lovely bike in the best colour ~ I think you would get a lot more than £1650 for it if you were to auction it on eBay. Good Luck with the bike and your health

Thanks all. :)

I'm slightly reluctant to eBay it as the fees are somewhat eye-watering, plus I'd rather sell it to someone on here if possible.

But its not a boxer?? Oh yeah I forgot neither are most the bikes of forum members

Sorry to hear this Richard but as I recall it has been on your mind for some time.

Hope your health improves real soon and you can get back in the saddle.

All the best bud.

Its only £15 for a 28-day classified ad on fleabay, couple of listing options can bump that up by £3.50 max......fixed price, with 'offers accepted' added to it - I sold my last 2 bikes and last 2 cars on there that way.

Thanks for that Pete - wasn't aware of that, shows how little I know

Will see how things go on here for a short while, then re-appraise the situation. PB expressed an interest in the bike a while back.

No massive rush to sell but now the deed's been done keen to move it on as soon as I can.

That's a lot of bike for the money, if it was next month when i've sold my speed triple I'd definitely be interested.
as someone else said ebay fees aren't too bad for a classified ad, but extortionate on an auction. just about to list my ohlins and the final sale fees are going to be about £40 (+paypal fees too.)

Firstly," Keep on Keepin on" Richard :)

Secondly, don`t care what anyone says, Honda make the best value for money bikes and set a standard that other manufacturers should follow but sadly fall way short.

I have seen that bike and it is outstanding.

Good luck.

Chris.
Fiat Panda.
Fiat Scudo (with speedblock, pipe carrier, reversing sensors, reversing camera, tow bar, some new rust and Fake Plumber logo)

started out with nothing, still have most of it left.

Sorry to hear about your health issues. Hopefully you can get back to 100% soon. Bike looks great. If you don't need the cash I'd SORN it and keep it in the hope of getting back out on it one day.

Thanks all.

John - you're right that it would be nice to keep the bike but this could drag on (we're looking at 12 months at least) so it makes sense - for me - to move it on if I can.
