You can by a tool for removing the pistons from the caliper. Around £15 I think I paid from ebay. I've never had to strip my bmw calipers but have done plenty of others. Im sure you have done this, but check the seals are in the correct way. Some, but not all, calipers use seals with a slight taper ...

However, the current dictionary meaning is 'an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure.'. Its a way of life for me. I use my bike for work (not commuting, but using the bike itself as a 'tool'), but I also use them for leisure and pleasure as well. A good friend of mine, who regu...

Hammerite silver smooth spray gives good results. It says to use their primer first, but Ive never bothered and the paint has stayed on just fine.
Be careful how you rub it down, I would avoid a steel wire brush as it can score the alloy.

I see the speedo hasn't been fitted, its up on the wall behind him :D .

I must admit the brit based cafe racers do look nice, I would have to get a whole new toolkit if I got one though as mine are all metric :(

How many Boxer Cups were imported to the UK?

Was the BCR a limited run from BMW? Specifically the Randy Mamola version, as the later red/white/blue paint job is hideous, so that doesn't count   When I was looking for mine I saw a replica, 'replica' where a standard 1100 had been made to look like the Mamola rep. The seller claimed ...

There is no crush washer on the gearbox drain plug. Other variants of the R11XX have another drain plug below the fill plug. These both use washers.

Give this a try, with the clutch held in, push down on the gear lever with your foot (no need to stamp on it, just apply gentle pressure). Slooowly start letting the cutch at and it should slot into first nicely.
Common on the 1100/1150 'Rs', and may well work for your 1200.

The clutch rod/gearbox oil seal sits behing the slave cylinder, so any misting around here has already meant the paper gasket has been breached and this should be addressed asap. It this seal goes, then gearbox oil will happily travel down the pushrod and find its way onto the clutch plates. The sam...

If I have a (very) slight criticism of the Telferizer mount, it's that it can come loose. It could do with a couple of flats milling on to it so you could get a spanner on it to tighten it. Had considered putting a drop of lock tight on the threads, but was concerned that I then might not get it of...

Telferizer Sat Nav mount R1100S

Just a big thumbs up for a great product with good old fashioned customer service. I saw a recent thread on here about the Telferizer Sat Nav mount and contacted the owner, Bob. A real nice guy who sent the mount out on approval, i.e if you like it when you get it, then pay! They are custom made, bu...

I agree with all that you guys are saying, the trouble is, that unlike when we were young, motorbikes to the majority of the youth are not seen as `cool`, where-as your pimped up Saxo 1.0 is......they`ve been playing car games for years by the time they are 16/17 fashion will come around ag...

Agreed if there from heroic corning taking out a couple of GSXR's on the track, but these were from the previous owner dropping the bike doing a U-Turn - no kudos there :(
