Re: Ceramic coating.
I'm currently working part time at a powder coaters in Preston. He regularly "Cerakotes" headers. They do come up looking absolutely mint. I do the blast/vapour blasting for him a couple of days a week. Have a look at Fastline coatings. There is unfortunately quite a long waiting list of j...

I'll have to pass on the doughnut, I just copy and paste the text into google translate. I have bought stuff off here before without any problem.

Breaking a 1200 S
There is someone in Germany, who is breaking his 1200s. He is offering a pair of boxes and frames as part of the deal. Please be aware that according to my German mate, Klein anzeigen is similar to Gumtree ie no comeback on the seller or protection for the buyer. Link below. https://www.ebay-kleinan...

Re: Back End Buccy October 8/9/10 2021
I can echo all of the above sentiments. For me it was great to meet up with people whose thoughts and comments I have been reading for the past few years. It was all good clean fun and some cracking roads that just got better as the day went on and the 701 as the ride home was the icing on the cake....

Re: Back End Buccy October 8/9/10 2021
I'll be there for the Saturday morning ride out. I just need a time and place to meet up so as I can plan for what time to leave. It's only 115 miles so not too tragic. I've agreed a night out pass and have booked a room in Moffat so will, assuming there is any space left at the hotel, be joining yo...

Re: Lightweight wheels.
Gerry, I'd be very interested to know the source of the info re life span for carbon bike frames. I've never come across this before. I have been using the same pair of carbon forks on my road frame for well over 10 years. My carbon road bike is coming up for 3 years old and all seems fine. Regards ...

Re: Back End Buccy October 8/9/10 2021
Due to domestic circumstances, I can't make the whole weekend. However if there are no objections I'd like to come up from Lancaster for the ride out on Saturday. I've ridden some of the area around Moffat and would appreciate doing it again with some like minded individuals. I'd just need a rendezv...

Re: Rear shock removal
Before you go to KAIS, give TWS suspension services in Preston a ring. He did my rear shock for me £140 including VAT. It came back looking like new. I was very happy with the service and could feel a difference afterwards. Just for info he does a ride in ride out set up for £40. He is also friendly...

Re: Wanted - R12S alternator
Were there any extras like VAT and import duty added on that you had to pay prior to taking delivery? Just be interesting to know in advance what the final price is before ordering. There are a lot of tempting bits over there.

Re: Alternative final drive
The guy who works there is called Andy and it's his own business. The workshop is immaculate, eat your dinner off the floor so to speak. He is very busy which I took as a good sign. There is a waiting list for his services. He is a couple of miles from J33 off the M6 as the name suggests. I needed t...

Alternative final drive
resized bmw thumbnail.png Hi Folks, I have been toying with the idea of swapping the S final drive to one from an RT for a while now and have finally got round to it having found a final drive and cable for a good price. As can be seen the final drive fits perfectly, as is to be expected and IMHO d...

Oil cooler protection
A while ago there was a post from an S owner asking about a grill to protect the oil cooler. I found this on the German small ad site for 49 euros. It may assist. I have one of these but it is still lying on the bench waiting for me to do something.. https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/kuehl...

Final drive speedo sensor female connector
For reasons best known only to myself (I wanted lower rpm at cruising speeds on long boring motor way trips), in pursuit of this possibly dubious goal I decided to change the factory final drive for one from a 1200 RT going from a 2.75 ratio to 2.62. The parts fiche showed a similar looking speedo s...

Re: Ohlins rear shock pre load ring
Thanks for the responses. I'm booked in with TW suspension services in Preston. He did a set up for me and I was very satisfied with his efforts, big, noticeable difference and good value for £40. He can probably source this as well, I was just trying to get ahead of the game. I've spoken with KAIS ...
