Just been through this on another forum it turned out that the problem was when it was worn as an open face
This is a fact of life with an open face I'm afraid

When dispatching i very seldom had the speedo connected but used to service once a month tyres used to last about three months for the back probably get an extra month out of the front Avon SM rear's front and back

To be honest not as good as i was 30 or so years ago when i was dispatching
Now i spend to much time worrying about other road users and crap road markings/surfacing etc
