Check it's getting power first so check the connector and the fuse for it. The connectors are prone to corroding and falling apart so maybe the changeover made it give up the ghost. You should be able to see if it's getting power using a multimeter when you turn the ignition on (when it should prime...

Have you used Neil Harrison (Steptoe) before? Might be worth giving him a shout to see if he'll do it for you. I trust him a lot more than any dealers.

I just had one today as a loan bike while my Boxer Cup was serviced. I also have an 1150GS so it was interesting comparing it to that. Engine wise identical but the lower seat position was much more comfortable around town (especially having just ridden the S!). The bars felt a bit wider than they n...

I love them both and would take both in a heartbeat! As much as the R9T is a poser machine the engine is beautiful to ride and I think it looks great in some of the configurations. I was in Paris last week and saw about 5 of them in the same afternoon (sat at the same cafe!)

Great shop! Haven't been there in years but used to spend lots of time in there.

Tell me about it, that's the bad thing about owning a GS - being associated with that group!

I'll have you know mine is old, dirty, corroded and the only mods are ones that are actually useful (Nitron shocks, de-cat, Touratech single seat)

I got some off eBay, the same seller a few people on UKGSer recommended. They sell through their site too but I find eBay easier. I got the 5/16" ones for my GS.

One thing I'd warn about the older GS (I have an 1150) is that they are heavy. Heavier than the later 1200GSA. Have you considered the 1150R? Same engine and frame but lower and it feels a bit lighter because of that.

Pump connector is on the R/h side . This is the sort of thing that can happen http://www.boxertrix.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16064&start=0 That was extremely close to happening on my GS. Fortunately when it actually gave up it was in my mate's garage while we were wiring up a satnav so perfect...

Decently priced Mamola

No connection to the seller at all, just seemed a fair price and what looks to be a decent bike too. Looks like a 2 into 2 exhaust as well.

The starter motor on my 1150GS had the magnets come loose which gave similar symptoms. It's not uncommon to happen, especially at the age they're getting to now. If you feel up for it there's a great explanation of how to strip it to check (and clean / rebuild if it's OK) here: http://ukgser.com/for...

It depends what Y-piece you have. I've got a Laser and a Remus one. I can't remember which but one gives you space to remove the shock and the other doesn't.
