Re: R1100s Sreen
I tried three screens on my 1100S way back. And I found none reduced wind noise at all but they did reduce wind blast and a propensity to lifting my helmet up (standard screen).

Re: Wc alternators
Water cooled? Where is the swear filter? :) Is that the final drive oil that never needs changing for the life of the bike? Who on earth thought that was a good idea and signed off on it? Answers on a postcard to the usual address please ... it's still relatively easy to drain and refill just put 1...

Re: Thinking again of moving to the dark side
Someone once said that 90% of all the Harleys ever built were still on the road. The other 10% made it home
Re: New ride
I have had the same model as that for just over two years - wish I'd bought one years ago. You will or may find it quite stuffy behind that fairing and scree. I seem to ride a lot with the visor up to get enough fresh air. Also I find I can shed winter layers much sooner than my colleagues on advent...

'm not usually a fan of "Cafe racer" style type reworks but this one is very restrained - with some quality engineering touches.

Sounds like you had a really good time - for us Essex boyz it would be a monster tour - so we tend to head for Wales or France.

Re: My Route App
Neil 178 I always use the Bluetooth instruction especially when abroad. Too many other things too look at riding on the wrong side if the road for a start :D TIP: If connecting a Tom Tom (for directions) and an Iphone (for music) to your B.tooth Connect headset the Sat Nav first then connect the pho...

Re: My Route App
Previous incarnation was Tyre to Travel sadly I only had the freebie version which is now just about impossible to use as you need an API key from Google Maps. Every time I tried to get the key the Google website fell over (accidentally on purpose I expect). Anyhoo I can now slack off and plan route...

My Route App
I may be late to the party and everyone else is using this already - but I recently changed my PC based route planner to the Web Based My RouteApp (Gold) Cost about €72 for three years. I use TomTom 410 on the bike but find route planning so much easier on the Laptop. With this APP you can use Googl...

Re: On the 'Cup again
Having seen several lights with holes in or cracked in work I'm a bit paranoid about it now :D Headlamps are expensive covers are cheaper. If your lamp has a hole in the glass it will fail the MOT. So fix the hole with Araldite and then fit a cover to stop it happening again. :D -- Voice of experie...

Tip - Only loosen one side at a time and you can even leave the wheel in. Done this mod three time once on an 1100s and twice on R1200ST's

Re: battery booster/ starter
I keep waiting for my car battery to Die.
Its now 9 years old - 1.6 Diesel Citroen C5 - As I understand it what tends to happen with batteries nowadays is that they will be fine one day and dead the next is this what everyone else has experienced lately? or do they still go downhill gradually?

Re: The dreaded ABS/EVO .... rear brake
Just because the switch clicks don't mean is actually working - No Pump noise from the rear brake - so I'd say I'd say switch is the culprit - I'd check that the switch was actually getting power to and from it first before worrying about fault codes etc.

Re: London Emission Zone
My 2009 R1200RT on which I pay £90 p.a. duty is exempt but my Car which is registered in 2010 and on which I I pay £30 p.a. duty is not exempt - go figure. At least I don't live in the Zone - my friend does he has a 2013 Audi A4 and he must either sell it and buy a new car or pay £4,562.50 a yer - U...
