Re: G'day. R1100R Scrambler starter.
That's possibly the best looking R11R I've seen. (I really don't like the after-thought oil-coolers, but they seem 'ok' on that treatment of the bike) Have you looked at a shorter Paralever arm? (365mm iirc) Will give you another 10mm or so of ground clearance by 'pulling' the rear wheel down and st...

Re: 100,000 miles
Good stuff!!
My 3rd Rockster reached about 130,000 before I blew the main-crank bearing while at full-chat on the A303.
If I hadn't been playing silly buggers, or had chosen to rebuild it, I'd still have it and it would probably be on 150K+ by now.
I hope you're going to keep it going!

Re: Thinking again of moving to the dark side
They're fun to ride, but no better dynamically than a 60s brit bike (heavier though).
I like getting a test ride occasionally to scratch that itch.

Re: Rocket 111
I love that film!
Have you ridden a Rocket3? Well worth a test ride, the torque is unbelievable, and while the handling is a touch ponderous, it's far better than you expect it to be.

Re: where to buy bmw spares?
Another vote for Motorworks.
Dealers are good for short notice items like filters because they'll have stuff in stock, but they'll obviously be more expensive.

Re: Black engine, what year?
On a related topic, anyone know which bikes might have a black, short (365mm) Paralever arm?

this is what you do: 1) remove the caliper by undoing the two retaining bolts 2) ensure that the old brake pads are pushed back into the caliper as far as they will go 3) remove the spring clip (5), split pin (1) and drift out the retaining pin (2) as shown inthe diagram below http://boxertrix.com/...

111,000 mile Rockster. (these are from memory - I can probably look it up if needed). Major issues: Clutch slave cylinder and spring at about 70k (weird issue - the clutch pushrod managed to friction-weld itself to the spring plate and so the clutch slave cylinder bearing wore out). Starter motor at...

Re: Callipers
I have the Toki callipers. 68,000 trouble free miles then 1 piston began to stick. I could only find the full service kit @ £70. Is there anywhere that does just the seals. I now have a spare set of Pistons. I've always just replaced the pistons to be honest. You can probably get the seals from a K...

Ok - for anyone interested. The R1150RS Brembos slot straight on. :) I bought a pair from Motorworks - not sure what mileage they'd done on the original bike but they were reasonably clean (with a little road-grime still in places). The pistons HAD been pushed right back in when supplied but on push...

No idea about a straight swap on the mounting lugs but I think you will find the brake line ends (where they meet the caliper) are different angles so you will need new lines as well. DT The bike already has 2 Goodridge stainless hoses direct from the m/c, (with a bit of slack) so hopefully no worr...
