not new

Not a new Boxertrixster nor a new Boxer but a new one to me. First proper run out today and it got the pillion seal of approval. The bike handled really well with a pillion on board. Engine and Laser cans sounded great. Throttle worked as a throttle should, unlike the remote feeling of the R1200S. G...

I'm amazed it's not gone yet. If I wasn't poor and wasn't looking for something with a decent pillion I'd bite your hands off!

But the R12S is a funny market, give it a few weeks and there'll probably be half a dozen folk desperate to buy one!

Thanks Al. The 500s were slightly bigger than the 350s, frame slightly bigger too. Arguably makes them a better road bike over the more skittish 350.

The BM is my friend's ST. It goes really well.

Both are practical classics, if that's not a contradiction!

Morini Riders Club AGM & Rally, Saturday 14th May

Not exactly boxer-related but this Saturday is the Morini Riders Club AGM & Rally. It's a very friendly and very social day and the great things are ... you don't need a Morini to attend, you don't need to be a member of the club, you don't even need to turn up on a bike! Saturday 14th May, Henl...

Sorry to hear about your health issues. Hopefully you can get back to 100% soon. Bike looks great. If you don't need the cash I'd SORN it and keep it in the hope of getting back out on it one day.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/225477674861/ Scroll down or search for Bob Barton. He has what looks like a nice RSV for £2900. (I've no connection with Mr Barton - it's just one of the FB groups I frequent.) Factorys have the blingosity but personally I'd be looking for one with a knowledgable own...

I have a 'Gen.1' (pre-2004 model). They are superb bikes to ride. The 04+ bikes are smaller but probably no more/less comfortable than any other sports bikes of the era. It would probably feel much much smaller and racier than the R12S so the two should compliment each other really well. I don't thi...

There's one in red and silver with ohlins on Gumtree, but it's in Northern Ireland. Doesn't say if it has wide rear wheel though. I think - that the ohlins and 6" rear - go together in a Sports package? Al That's what I thought - just looked at the 1200s promotional brochure and it has them as...

Just read the article... It's actually quite well written, and there's an obvious love of the boxer twin concept. But Tim Thompson is one of those journos who seems to have more brain than testosterone. I liked him when he was 'Classic Bike' editor.

I think journalists, and a lot of sheep-like buying public, have developed a knack of confusing 'sports'bike and 'race'bike. The R12S was a great sportsbike but "too long and ponderous" to make a race bike. (Without spending a fortune and competing in an olde worlde air cooled class!) [lig...

I agree you get used to the throttle Jim, but it's the concept that irritates me! It's so pointless. Why not just have a 'proper' throttle?

I suspect it's covert BMW 'elf 'n' safety!

I found the bike generally comfortable too. A proper big mileage bike.

That's interesting. I hated the eccentric throttle - an answer to a problem that didn't exist! The mid-range torque can be deceptive - because it has so much it still feels good on part throttle openings, but if you contort the wrist to wind on the last bit of the throttle - wow! Big difference.
