Re: Unbalanced & drippy
Many thanks for the very useful advice Pete & Nab. Sorry I was so long responding - been out for the count with some kind of 'flu..... Looks like I need to check the valve clearances first, not done that for a few years! If that's OK I think I might go for those R1200 injectors as my R1100S is g...

Unbalanced & drippy
Hi, My R1100S came over all shaky at tick-over & I guessed that maybe the throttle cable/bodies needed syncing. I've got the gauges but have never attempted it before. I checked YouTube for advice and went ahead. It seemed that the left throttle cable/body was pulling less vacuum than the right,...

Re: Slippin'and a slidin'
Thanks Pete for that really helpful reply. Still got my arm in a sling but less pain & more movement every day. Will go for those Ferodo brakes, standard discs and the run in procedure you mentioned. Been having discussions with biker mates about ABS & whether it would have prevented the acc...

Slippin'and a slidin'
Braked on a wet, greasy South London road on Thursday. Front wheel locked and I ended up with a dislocated collar bone. Part of the problem were the brakes on my recently purchased non-ABS, R1200ST. Previous owner had fitted non-standard wavy discs & god knows what pads. These brakes were very p...

Re: Heading for trouble?
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like the R1200 headers might be easier to remove than the R1100s I totally get the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" advice too. Trouble is that I think there is a problem with the R1200ST. When I start the bike it sounds as it should. But...... After it's ful...

Heading for trouble?
I've been thinking of getting hold of some secondhand header pipes - one set for my R1200S and maybe another for the R1200ST. The idea is to have them de-catted and see how they sound/perform. I'm hoping it wouldn't be such a hard job to do the swap around......... I've got reasonable spanner skills...
Re: ruSTy
Many thanks for all your very useful tips. Sorry for the late reply - I've been away. Things I've learned are: * The Sub Frame is (fairly easily) removable so, if I was keen, i could remove it, paint it & replace. * Hammerite Smoothrite is the thing to use on black painted frame tubes rather tha...

I've just recently bought an R1200ST, nice bike........... :) While it at first sight appears to be in good nick, it's a different story when you remove the tupperware. Previous owner(s) have obviously ridden it on salty roads and hosed down the bike afterwards, forgetting the bits under the fairing...

Re: R1200ST - Nice, low mileage, wanted
Most of the bikes I have had over the last few years were purchased in the UK and imported to Ireland. Less hassle than you would think. Thanks for that useful info. I did do a basic check on the bike & there was mention that it probably was a UK import. I'm thinking now that I might go ahead &...

Re: R1200ST - Nice, low mileage, wanted
2008 in Ireland, looks good with a lot of bells and whistles. https://www.donedeal.ie/motorbikes-for- ... t/20285106 I do not know either the bike or the seller. Thanks for the heads up regarding the Irish R1200ST. Is exactly the bike I'm after. Just a bit reluctant to get into the whole bike impor...

Re: R1200ST - Nice, low mileage, wanted
One on eBay now. 5000 miles £3300 bidding
Thanks for the heads up about the R1200ST
That's exactly the bike I'm looking for, except......
I live in London and will need at least an 06 plate if it's going to comply with the new ULEZ emissions zone they're bringing in here next year.

Re: I'm Riding Backwards for Christmas
After reading all the posts I decided to get the rear tyre refitted. The R1100S has a belly pan so I loaned my ABBA stand to the mechanic to make rear wheel removal easier. He hadn't used one before, so I gave him basic instructions on how to use it. But...... Don't think he tightened it all up prop...
