I seem to remember Steptoe once talking about this issue , the big clue is that you say the rear brake seems weak? Try riding a big silver touring bike with a white helmet and hi-viz on! Less speeding around me, and I do think it makers a big difference to how your noticed/respected on the road. Ahh, its the full monty, front and back with bulbs, havent looked at them for 5 years, the LH Front has some minor crack lines but hardly visible, up to you.
