Re: Exhaust questions... Simple upgrade not going to plan!
Slow progress on this unfortunately, but I've managed to get a bit more done recently. Oval carbon can from ebay - rebuilt with new acoustafil packing, a couple of stainless 45 degree mandrell bends and the services of a local man with a TIG gives me this: https://i.imgur.com/5TsMNIm.jpg The mount i...

Re: Exhaust questions... Simple upgrade not going to plan!
I've tried cleaning it back to clean metal, and it's like lace. Ironic that they've used a mild steel section to connect 2 stainless sections together. Anyway, I've picked up a carbon oval under-seat can from ebay. No idea what it's from, but I know one thing for sure, it's going to sound a bit frui...

Re: Exhaust questions... Simple upgrade not going to plan!
I did consider the weight, but figured it probably couldn't be much heavier than the standard item!
As for noise, yes, I once had a TRX850 with remus straight through absorption silencers, and that could lay waste to a greenhouse from 50 yards!

Re: Exhaust questions... Simple upgrade not going to plan!
I've had two identical breaks in the 100k odd miles that i've done . Both replaced with second hand items . Currently I have one spare that's cracked ... I find the bike runs well with the y piece and standard cans . Any chance of posting up a photo of what you intend to use ? I'm always on the loo...

Re: Exhaust questions... Simple upgrade not going to plan!
Thanks for the replies chaps. I think I will repair the existing silencer as suggested, at least I can eek out the last of the decent weather for this year. I believe I've found a suitable stainless oval silencer with offset intake and single centre exit which looks like it will be fairly easy to mo...

Exhaust questions... Simple upgrade not going to plan!
Evening all. After deciding that my R1100S was a tad too quiet, and that the standard cat assy looked far too heavy and bulky, I ordered a Danmoto cat eliminator pipe. Simple job right? It appears that these old girls are getting on a bit now, and whilst wiggling the rear silencer off of the c...

Good evening from Kent.
Hello all... Thought I ought to say hello! My name is Paul, and I've just got rid of an old fireblade (too fast!) in favour of an R1100s - my first ever BMW bike. Just fancied a big twin, and didn't really like much else out there. Did have a TRX850 at one point, but it looks like they've now reache...
