I like the look, and the sound.

Re: Mobile Charging
I use a multi-port USB charger for phone, iPad, helmet Bluetooth headphones, and camera (posh one that's better than phone camera). The multi-port has always worked a treat in UK, France and Spain - never had a problem. According to blurb, it is 'intelligent' enough to work out charging requirements...

Re: Thinking again of moving to the dark side
Harleys don't do it for me personally, but... They sound good and they have an image that the clones just don't match. A good friend of mine came back to biking last year and bought a Tiger 800, then he signed up for a Harley-equipped tour in the USA (California, Arizona, Nevada). He came back smitt...

Yes, hope you get the weather on side, and have a great and safe trip. Scenery photos with bikes in view but without rain on the lens.

Re: Definitive list of R12S worthwhile mods
Sorry, I can't help you. I have an R12S with the 'sports' upgrade, but it's been kept standard apart from a bling carbon hugger that was on it when I bought it nearly 8 years ago. It's just my personal preference to keep my bikes relatively unmodified. I hope you get the answers you seek from someon...

Re: battery booster/ starter
Batteries do still go downhill slowly, but some also suffer internal shorts and open circuits. Thing is with modern cars, they generally start on the button, so you don't usually know they've failed until they have nothing left to give, whereas in the good old days when you had to crank a bit longe...

Re: Today I
Definitely to be commended. A good news story that local people are committed to making it happen. Sport, when I was at school, was more about bullying and humiliation for a lot of kids. So I didn't like sport at all for many years, watching or participating. Enjoy cycling - me vs me. Well done to J...

St Andrews - I should have known! I grew up in Broughty Ferry, and know St Andrews very well. We still like to go there when back home. Also love the old East Neuk fishing villages, Anstruther (pronounced Ainster, I believe), Crail and Pittenweem.

Re: 527 miles yesterday
That's a serious distance in one day. The most I've done is 430, and that felt like a long day. I assume the R12S just shrugged it off.
Where was the photo taken? It looks like my kinda place to just sit and breath.

Re: Confession time.
Nothing to add to the good advice given so far. I didn't take any spares, apart from mandatory light bulb set, on my tours into Europe - guess I got away with it.
Go safely and have a great trip. It sounds like a brilliant adventure you have planned.

Re: Self Indulgence .....
That's a great effort Steve. Keep up the good work - you know it makes sense. And well done to others getting to a healthier weight. I've gradually lost nearly two stones 180lbs down to 155lbs just by being more active since retiring 5 years ago. Think of the money I've saved not having to buy carbo...

New Battery
I've just ordered a new battery from Tayna for the R1200S. The price seemed very reasonable and delivery charge not too bad, so clicked on the PayPal link. On returning to the Tayna website, the price had jumped nearly £8 for VAT, so I feel slightly annoyed by that even though the overall price is s...

Re: My vote ....
Like SP250, I was not a great fan of the original Sound of Silence, but I think it was the Bachelors hit that spoilt it for me. The Simon & Garfunkel original is ok now - I can listen to it - but if the Disturbed version had been around back then, it would have coloured it very differently for m...
