I don't think it's a thing of being 'better'. Twinmax can tell you imbalance between 2 cylinders. A carbtune will tell you vacuum pressure of one or more cylinders. Both are used for the same purpose, but they use a different approach.

What I understand is that there isn't a whole lot to do other than finetuning with the Powercommander because the BMW mototronic runs in closed loop between 10% and 80% throttle. Having a PC with wideband O2 sensor and adjusted for a proper A/F ratio of 13.8 takes care of most. But I could be wrong....

What you need the extra clearance for? First thing that hits the ground are the valve covers..

It's a replacement that comes with the PC. It is able to read any value, allowing you to set the PC to a user defined A/F ratio, whereas the OE sensor can only read 1.

The rear disc would look better with the matching front, but hey, it came with the bike. :) Don't always have all the choice when buying 2nd hand.

Then again, it came pretty much pre-farkled, so I can spend more money on some other stuff that I'd like.

Laser or Staintune, it already has a K&N. Possibly an induct mod (if I can find some pics of where and how to drill; that CF duct is too expensive and only really works at highspeed)

Oops, slip of the finger. :) Of course it's R.

And yes, it's loud. Ripped off the cans for some stock ones, while I decide on either a Staintune or Laser.

Thanks Gromit, I introduced myself in another thread too. :)

BTW gromit, did you happen to ride a VFR in the past, and spend time on the VFR forums? Your nick seems to be familiar.

PC? Chip?

Having used the search and doing lots of reading, I may be opening a can of worms but I still want to ask. What is better? The powercommander w/ wideband O2, or getting a chip for the mototronic? I understand a lot of these chips are tuned for max throttle, which I couldn't care less about. I also h...

Hello from Holland!

Been registered for a while now, but never said hello. :) Just bought me R11S 2 weeks ago, and it has been one of the best buys I have done. Previous bike was an FJR and I wanted something more sporty, lighter and with more soul than the turbine FJR. Accidentally came across this very pretty S, went...
