I was going to bend the support pieces on the stand out slightly, I thought, as you say they were supposed to flick the sidestand up as you lever the bike up, but when I do it the support piece hits the stand but not at the right angle to retract it. if I bend them out slightly (about 15mm) it will ...

Cheers guy`s that makes sense, that just leaves the stiffness issue. As I am new to bmw and shafts etc the rear wheel seems really stiff compared to a chain. I checked the rear brake and that is not binding.

IF Herrman is right maybe the rest of should bid on a full set of yellow (sorry mandarin) plastics that are for sale on ebay in germany. still think silver is the classiest colour, it looks ok on a volvo as well when the wife washes it!!

I agree in certain circles on here it sems black is maybe the fastest colour but silver is the classiest.
