Second outing on the Lizard

the photos below document the success of the Lizards second outing. Lowered personal best laptime from 1:25 something to 1:22.98, two first placings and a second place in Brackets group 2. I had to rob a head protector from a friends GS to keep from rubbing a hole in the right side valve cover. I'm ...

Why extra for a 5.5in rim?

Why the extra cost for a 5.5in rim? I thought the upgrade for a 1200S was from a 5.5 to a 6in rim. And it used to be taboo to fit a 190 on a 5.5?

Since the BCR's had a 2.54 ratio, perhaps that is now the standard for a 1200S?

All good tips, thanks muchly.

The alternator will go onto the bench. I'll relocate the battery to where the alternator sat which will also allow a better air induct path.

did you try this?

Thesadog, you've taken the trouble to measure resistance in the switch and have described how it completes a circuit. Have you tried to earth the wire to directly to the engine to see if the light comes on? To absolutely test whether the switch can complete a circuit, find any low voltage globe, a c...

Where does the ABBA stand work?

BMWBob,

The photos in the middle of the thread in conjunction with the stand on it's own show how they support the bike. It looks like the front of the motor is supported by a single wide pad while the rear of the stand has a pair of horns that come up under the rider foot pegs.

electrical drain

I was wondering if anyone has information regarding the current draw of the ignition and injection systems? I'm planning to eliminate the Lizards starter motor (push start or more probably a roller starter) and as a result the battery size can be reduced. I'm wondering about eliminating the alternat...

Too bad for the damage

but I'm glad I'm not the only one that this sort of thing happens to. I'd just put my spotless/unmarked '93 Fireblade up for sale and had ridden it to work to place a 'For Sale' sign on it. Some time in the afternoon a gust of wind hit it on the left side and knocked it over (the event was captured ...

Off Topic - Got Sheep?

An Australian sheep farmer was puzzled at the disappearance of sheep on his farm. After a few weeks of sheep disappearing, the farmer decided to put up an electric fence. This is what he found! ...... http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a207/twodear/pic2.jpg http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a207/twod...

Great response

Thanks for all your comments, the ride height is an easy first step. The shocker and aftermarket pipe will take a bit of dosh, though I can easily alter a second spare set of stock pipes. In my defence, there were significant delays experienced by the shop merely getting this wreck in operating cond...

knee sliders and an exhaust query

Happy New Year to all. Hopefully all the hopes you entertain for the coming year are still on track (so to speak). The lizard successfully survived it's first outing as a race bike, although we both have a long way to go before we can be more than a mobile chicane. The attached photos show that the ...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like it! In fact I think I'll copy the pattern onto the Lizard, but in dayglow yellow and green.

If it's not for you, exercise your choice in the showroom. Bland yellow and black (or just black) it's been done already...not for me.

Re: Helpful advise

Are you running the 5.5 rear rim? I would seriously consider the Ohlins with height adjuster as the gs torque arm alone will not get you round the fact that the std shocker fades real fast under pressure. The front stoppers aint too bad with HH pads in,but quite a few people have gone the 6 pot rout...

Helpful advise

Thanks for your welcomes. I also feel that the Avons are no good, but I was going to use them up first before trying to go ballistic. I've got a source of half used Bridgestone 002's available from a fellow Cafe Racer club member. He is riding 10's of seconds quicker than I'll see so I hope they'll ...

Sea Dog of UKGSer invited me over, so here goes. I currently ride an R1150GS ADV but as I plan to commit it to primarily dirty and muddy roads, I've purchased a 1999 R1100S to convert into a dedicated track bike. Here are a few links (because I'm lazy and don't want to repost them all); http://www.u...
