Thanks for that. But surely if the float switch is sticking it would stick in the 'up' position ie when the tank is full and the light would never come on. This is intermittent - and on a full tank, so the float shouldn't be able to get to the 'sticking on' level.?? But if i did 'pull it about' is t...

tank is full.
fuel light comes on / goes off again whenever it feels like it.
