Re: My R1200S project so far

thanks for the positive comments, will definitely include some wider shots when all the panels are fitted.

Will put new black R1200S stickers on tail unit, then "live with it" for a while to decide if it needs any more graphics adding.

less is more!

My R1200S project so far

I have created a blog on what I am up to regards rebuilding my previously yellow R12 - much easier for me than posting pics on the forum!

I hope you enjoy it and find it interesting

Re: Hello from West Somerset!

Just had bodywork painted - handed in on Monday and collected today! Minehead Auto Body repairs on Mart Road. Quality is spot on, BMW paint code colours used.

Will post pics tomorrow of all my nice shiny bits, wheels etc...... Christmas has come early :-)

thanks for image Phil - I toyed with that shade of blue but have opted for the solid blue used on the HP2 for the wheels - 5002 code.

Where did you get your bike painted- recommend anybody in Minehead / Taunton area?

Sorted out photos - have added 3 more showing progress so far. Previous rebuilds have taught me the importance of bagging & labelling everything! Bike needs a thorough going over as after 51k miles some bits are tired. Front discs are 0.5mm under wear limit and very badly lipped. Wheels had blis...

Well I have stripped my R12S down - pics show her naked! There are a few broken bolts to sort and I will probably replace lots of them with stainless. Suspension is off being serviced, wheels are being powder coated, rear subframe and a few other bits also being powder coated. Exhaust will need lots...

Factory fitted alarm / heated grips

Dash warning DWA! is active which the book tells me is the alarm battery.

Are they easy to replace or is it a dealer job?

heated grips - very worn after 51K - can you replace just the grips?

thanks
