Thanks chaps ~ very interesting so far. It looks like it could be a toss a coin type scenario but hopefully a consensus will emerge.

What TYPE of oil do you use in your S ?

Still trying to get my head around which is best ~ not the Brand, the type. So please share what you use below. If you want to disclose the mileage of your engine that would also be useful. Also if you have experienced any engine issues e.g. excessive wear, smoking exhaust, component failure, etc. M...

The S has finally arrived at her new home here in the Costa Tropical, Spain. Immediately took her to the garage, inflated the tyres and filled the tank with 98RON and took her for a spin. Just as I remembered but the throttle bodies need balancing and the tyres are 8 years old  Plus there's a...

Hi Mal ~ I spent the summer looking for a 1100S and not a lot is moving at fixed prices. A 2003 with same mileage went for £2K last week. Service history seems to enhance if it's BMW or specialist and complete. Full years MOT and good tyres also help but anyone with some knowledge will worry about c...

Thought I'd have a look online: http://www.bmw-motorrad.dk/dk/da/bikes/highperformance/hp2s/media/Rider_s_Manual_HP2_Sport_2008.pdf Page 171: BMW Service, engine A special engine service has to be undertaken after 50000 km. That's 31,250 miles, doesn't mention racing. That's going to be pricey :(

My opinion FWIW is the 1100S is a more useable bike with a lot of nice design points the VFR hasn't. The last VFR750s are getting to classic status now but they'll be 20 year...
