It's pretty variable. Drove back yesterday and the highest price I saw for diesel was 1.68 (lowest 1.53 near Firenze) and petrol around 1.75. Autostradas were relatively cheap in comparison to Chianti where everyone is out to make a buck.

€1.70 for diesel? Ouch. I'm in Italy later this week, may have to fill up in Split!

Yes the bike was exceeding the speed limit, however that in itself is not dangerous, what caused the danger was the driver failing to make proper observation and judgement, being a modern bike the headlights would be on so he had no excuse not to have "seen" the bike.
