Hi Tanneman

Thanks for the offer of your NWS stand - sounds like a bargain, but I'll pass as I already have an ABBA stand so just need the frame adapters. If I do need to get it 'off the ground' I think I will follow the 'big blocks of wood' approach or buy an under engine lift.

Thank you to everyone for taking the time to reply - much appreciated. Your comments have made me feel much happier with my purchase and I'm looking forward to picking the bike up tomorrow and getting better acquainted on the ride home. In fact, I might just manage to get lost...

Workshop stand - recommendations?

Can anyone recommend a good workshop stand for the R1100S? Ideally I'd like a stand that allows maintenance or even removal of the swing-arm assembly (should it ever be necessary) so stand location points clear of rear wheel and swing-arm pivot bolt.
