I looked a while back for carbon covers (for single spark) and didn't have much luck. Boxercafe in the states ( http://www.boxercafe.com/R1100S.htm ) do a fibreglass pair for $70. I did wonder if it would be possible to have some kind of carbon effect wrap applied to these, but didn't take it any fu...

Interesting. I'm pretty sure the rim width measurement should be taken between the inner seating faces - ie, where the bead sits inside the wheel - so I would expect the outside of the wheel to measure wider. How much wider will depend on the design / material of the wheel of course. Does this pictu...

The current system IS changing in April next year. Haven't fully got my head round it yet, and it will only apply to new vehicles registered after the change comes into force, but if I've got it right only the first years tax will be affected by emissions. From year 2 onwards everyone will pay £140 ...

Carbon Fibre Pillion Seat Cover - R1100S

Carbon fibre pillion seat cover for R1100S. I've had this ages but never used it - it's in nearly new condition with only a few light storage scratches. The locating lugs are not fitted but supplied in a separate bag (stuck to the bottom as you can see). Not sure if this means they have never been f...

R1100S Tank Bag

Just spotted this on ebay:

No connection to the seller - just thought someone here might be interested. I already have one and they're a handy piece of kit.

Bit the bullet this morning and ordered a new starter motor. I'm meant to be riding to Scotland the weekend after next I only have this weekend to fix the bile and service it, so time is of the essence! Found one at Manchester Auto Electrics for £69.99 inc delivery on ebay, but I phoned them direct ...

Stripped it down tonight. Magnets have come loose and jammed the mechanism. Not a lot of damage - unsure if they can be re-attached somehow?

Well, it looks like it's definitely the starter motor. Checked, cleaned and tightened all the terminals, gave the starter motor a few good taps with a persuading implement but no difference. And, yes, they do come off very easily. Dropped the belly pan first to get to the bottom bolt, but it probabl...

Do you have to have actually been on the weekend - and is it still available on Monday.......?

Having said that, I'm sure a starter motor from BMW with 15% off is still more than non genuine sources

Battery terminals, earthing point and starter terminal---- all should be clean and done up tight. As I just put a battery on it 2 ...

So I fitted a new battery around 2 weeks ago and finally got out for a decent run on the bike on Sunday. Took it to work and back on Tuesday, a round trip of 60 miles or so, and parked it outside the house as I was in a rush to go and pick my son up after school (he's too small for the bike unfortun...

.......Only took minutes to replace my rear, without Lazer exhaust removal. Was gonna say the same - I'm sure I removed / refitted a rear shock a while back without having to touch the exhaust, although that was a standard exhaust & shock. This probably doesn't help though.......
