as sproggy has said, the benefit is if you're on a ride, gas up and ride.
By the time the gas expands their is room.
I drilled 3, 4mm holes and the extra time to top off isn't more than a minute at the most.

I'm seeing between 150-170mpg at 80mph as an average.
I increased my range by using the extra 1/2 gallon of space within the tank,(called drilling the tank).

I was partial to the leisure suit with the white shoes and belt.
But you had to be careful because they found that leisure suits cause cancer unless you wore the peach color in which case you tended to be 'lite in the loafer' :happy10:
