Re: Front axle removal 1200s

Ah, got it. Thanks guys. I've managed to cobble together a suitable socket to undo the axle.

The owners book just says 'remove the axle' or something - no reference to a special tool.

Never mind. All done now.

Thanks again.

Front axle removal 1200s

Hi All, I need to put a new front tyre on my 1200S before I sell it. For the life of me, I can't see how the front axle comes out. In the old days, there was a hole you could put a rod through and twist the axle loose, but not on this one and I can't shift mine. I've undone the pinch bolt on the RHS...

My 1200s For Sale - Bristol

With some sadness I'm putting my lovely R1200S up for sale. I've not found the time to enjoy it as much as I should have done over the 18 months I've owned it, riding for a ridiculous 1500 miles in that time. It's the one from this thread: http://www.boxertrix.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=210...

Re: What's the penalty - non approved helmet?

Thanks for the advice guys, looks like it will have to go back. My missus bought be an open face lid as a bit of an impulse buy - didn't think it wouldn't be UK legal and only realised when I got home. It's a Biltwell lid, DOT approved only. Nicely made too. Shame to have to take it back as much for...

What's the penalty - non approved helmet?

Hi,

Do any of our police experienced members know what the penalty would likely be if pulled up for wearing a non uk\ EU approved helmet, for example a DOT one?

Cheers

Re: Shiny :-)

Nice.
It's probably the tyres making the handling feel so different. I'd be pretty disappointed if my suspension was changed without me asking, or without me being informed afterwards. Can't imagine any professional tech doing that.

Re: New lid

I went and bought a System 6 in the sale as suggested by Steve! The price was too good to miss. It's a shiny bright yellow/green one.

It's a snug fit at 58/59 but the next size up felt too big. Hopefully it won't be uncomfortable on a longer trip.

Thanks for all the advice!

Indeed. My local dealer said the same thing. I'm tempted, but i think it looks a bit clunky. I'll probably go and take a closer look though.

New lid

Hi All, I need to buy a new lid as my excellent BMW Sport Integral is finally wearing out. Not sure what to go for though. It's a few years since I bought the first one, so I'm out of date with what's good/bad etc. I like the look of the new system 7 carbon, but I've not seen one in the flesh yet - ...

Re: Sports Boxers

I sat on a Racer at Dick Lovett Motorrad in Bristol on Friday. The sales guy said that they'd paint it any of the standard colours for any of the franchised car dealers on site. The Bristol site services including Aston Martin and Porsche as well as the BMW car dealership. Can't remember how much fo...

It's a safety feature isn't it - stops you riding away with the side stand down?

Some people remove the switch to disable the feature.
