I had a sit on it at the EICMA show... it's Ok, the new 12R is a nice bike in the flesh, as is the RS..but they lack something... (for me) it's all a bit UJM. Ducati launched their Scrambler which has the 800 aircooled motor and they had a huge stand just dedicated to that bike. the whole Cafe racer...

fitted up the Heli-bars on Friday, took the bike for a lurch around on Saturday... what a difference the bars make! (thanks Dave) it's gone from feeling like you're doing a permanent handstand when braking into downhill corners, to feeling comfy and some how more composed... was all a bit of a shock...

Problem is, if it appeals to the traditional BMW rider, they'd buy one, and keep it for years and years.... but that market is reducing from the top down as we pop our mortal coils or retire from bikes, so BMW need to get new customers in to the marque and left wing stuff turns them off potentially...

Re: Most biker friendly country in Europe?

I have just returned from a little mini (3500 mile, mostly wet!!)trip in the motorhome to Split and back via France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Austria and Slovenia and cannot believe how biker friendly Slovenia is, 10-15% off room rates etc and if you are unfortunate enough  to ride a Harley lo...

given the age of the bike I'd suggest getting the shocks serviced, it's something very few people do, but the damper oil lives in a pretty harsh enviroment and if you imagine the heat that builds up in a unit over a 2 or 3 hour ride on a normal road, with the oil under pressure from the nitrogen and...

My wife has an F800S. She loves it. Economy is outstanding, its comfortable and light to handle. Quick enough to cruise at 95 all day if required. Belt drive is quiet and clean. Luggage capacity is great either with seat bag or panniers. We have put fairing lowers on, plus Akra can and ST screen. P...

Been to look at an 06 bike today. Totally immaculate, would never guess the age. Done <500miles in the last 4 years with only 4500 miles in total. Aside from a knackered battery there was a slight coolant weep from the area of what I assume is the water pump on the RHS of the engine and then there ...
